David Locke runs thru the news of the day with the Utah Jazz.  Leading off with Dante Exum having shoulder surgery and what the timetable might be while we know we will never get one.   In a surprise to some people, Royce O’Neale made the Jazz roster over Weber State’s Joel Bolomboy.  Locke talks about how Bolomboy is an NBA player, but O’Neale won the spot and is likely a rotation player in the NBA.

Locke touches on a few other news notes and a talks about a player who has worked his way into the rotation.

Finally, Locke sits down with Donovan Mitchell.  The rookie from Louisville is thoughtful, insightful and a joy while discussing his upbringing and his approach to the game.   Mitchell will be a fan favorite after listening to this interview.

David Locke enters his ninth year as the radio play-by-play voice of the Utah Jazz, having spent the majority of his career in radio in Salt Lake City and Seattle. In the summer of 2016, Locke created the Locked on Podcast Network which has podcast daily bite sized podcasts for every NBA and NFL team. A native of Palo Alto, Calif., Locke graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles with a degree in Political Science and Sociology. Locke and his wife have a son and a daughter.

Good script vs. bad script, where did offense go in Los Angeles and two contrasting plays

The Utah Jazz had the perfect script in Denver. The Jazz were rested the Nuggets were on a back to back. The Jazz had had 3 practice days and were coming off a 4 game losing streak whereas the Nuggets had won the last one out by 37 and were feeling good. Then the Jazz went to Los Angeles and the Lakers had lost 3 in a row, had had two spirited film sessions and practices and the Jazz were on a back to back coming off a big win. The good script and the bad script and the games followed suit.
