Utah Jazz radio voice and Jazz NBA Insider David Locke tells his favorite NBA story about being in the gym with the two greatest shooters of an era, hall of famers Ray Allen and Steve Nash.

Speaking of Hall of Famers what about the Jason Kidd and Ricky Rubio comparison. Does it hold validity and where was Jason Kidd at this point of his career. Player comps are the topic than what about my two favorite names for Donovan Mitchell, Allen Iverson and Steve Francis.

Locke gets geeky and explains why more threes need to be shot.

David Locke enters his ninth year as the radio play-by-play voice of the Utah Jazz, having spent the majority of his career in radio in Salt Lake City and Seattle. In the summer of 2016, Locke created the Locked on Podcast Network which has podcast daily bite sized podcasts for every NBA and NFL team. A native of Palo Alto, Calif., Locke graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles with a degree in Political Science and Sociology. Locke and his wife have a son and a daughter.

Interesting commentary on three point shooting.

Takes me back to last year when Kyle Kuzma was hitting the NBA three way better than the college three. Coach Krystkowiak said he wasn’t surprised and suggested that Kuzma wasn’t trying as much to aim the shot anymore.

The closer a player gets to the hoop, the more they focus on trying to aim their shots rather than focus on form that puts the ball in the hoop. Coaches are probably hurting themselves by forcing ‘poor shooters’ closer to the hoop, where they focus more on aiming and less on the mechanics of the shot.

Move a bad shooter beyond the arch and you’ll probably see an increase in efficiency the way Kuzma did when he went from college to the NBA.
