Thunder v. Jazz Game #2
Things to watch
1) Keeping Westbrook off the rim
2) Avoid offensive turnovers that lead to Thunder run outs
3) Play both side of the floor on offense
4) Get corner 3 looks – 10 at min

Thunder fans stand until their team scores which means they are still standing during the timeout with the jazz leading 9-0. I have always said they do this backwards. They should stand until the other team scores. They had done it backwards since the beginning

Tune into to the radio @1041straight is on fire. He has been to every practice and shoot around this week and is incredibly well prepared. Dropping his knowledge

Steven Adams 2nd foul at the 6:50 mark puts him on the bench. Thunder get 32% of offensive rebounds with Adams on floor and 20% with him off. Now Thunder go super small with Grant as center and Carmelo as 4 and Jazz will have defend in space – Thunder 17-15

Jae Crowder with his 3rd foul with 1:04 left in the 1st quarter.

Dante Exum amazing finish gives Jazz lead it 26-25 after 1. Derrick Favors changed the game with both Adams and Gobert out with foul trouble dominating the offensive glass and scoring – 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Thunder are 28th in NBA in denying the 3 and 30th in denying the corner 3 and the Jazz are finally getting some of those looks. 4 of 11 on the game. Should get about 30 attempts and 10 or more corner 3. Jazz lead it 40-34
All but 2 Jazz points are in restricted area or three point shots – 22 points in the restricted area

Jazz defensive rating with 4:41 left in the 2nd quarter is 97.6. Jazz lead it 43-37 in the 2nd quarter – Favors was great 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists

Jazz lead it at the half 53-46 and doing lots of things well . Jazz were able to get the Thunder in back half of the shot clock much more tonight and Thunder were 0 for 6 in 2nd quarter in back half of shot clock

Jazz moving the ball and not over dribbling tonight. They have taken 14 three pointers (made just 5) and have 7 corner threes in the first half. Lots of Quin’s adjustments have improved the Jazz offensive activity

If this one is close late it will be interesting. Westbrook playoff clutch play is brutal, Paul George is lacking and the Jazz have no playoff clutch experience at all. Would advise the Jazz to find a way to avoid it if possible.

Rubio gets a 8 second violation uncontested and then Gobert throws an outlet to Rubio is intercepted by too soft by both. Thunder convert on both 9 point lead is now 1. Can’t make mental mistakes of that nature in playoffs on the road. Could be very costly.

Westrbook is smelling blood. Let’s see if Jazz can stem the tide. Mitchell is not right. Jazz will need him to find it.

Thunder on a 13-0 run and the Jazz have made a ton of mistakes recently. Crowd is rocking. Thunder lead it 71-67 first lead since 8:36 2nd quarter

Thunder 19-0 run into a Jazz 18-3 run. Jazz were seriously on the ropes. 8:44 left and the Jazz have regained the lead 85-80. Ricky Rubio hits corner 3. Jazz have 13 corner 3 attempts

The Spida spin puts the Jazz up 4 but for the 2nd straight possession the Jazz don’t pick up defensively in transition and it is a two point game with 7:14 left. Jazz 87-85

1:37 to play The Jazz lead 97-93 with the ball – Donovan Mitchell has 11 in the 4th quarter

The Series is tied at 1. Incredible comeback after the 19-0 run by the Thunder for the jazz to win on the road. Thunder big 3 goes 0 for 13 in the 4th quarter. Donovan Mitchell 13 points in the 4th quarter

Saturday night at @vivintarena going to be ……

Derrick Favors 20 points and 16 rebounds. Rudy Gobert 13 points 15 rebounds – The Wasatch Front in the Plains

OH DONOVAN !!!!!

JAZZ GAME REWIND: 2nd Half propels Toronto past the youthful Jazz

The Jazz fell short in the second half as the Toronto defense shut the new-look Jazz down in route to cruising to an 114 – 82 Raptors victory. Lauri Markkanen shined for the Jazz with 20 points and 5 rebounds but the Raptors length and athleticism proved to be too much for the Jazz riding a dominant 3rd quarter to pull away from the Jazz who played well in the first half, only trailing by one.

Relive the game through the radio highlights. Voiced by Leif Thulin.
